Friday Favorites

If you haven't noticed by now - I'm a huge fan of Etsy.com - the best place to shop for unique items, made by the most creative people out there. I'm a member of the Etsy Fort Worth street team which is made up of - you guessed it - Etsy sellers in the Fort Worth area.
Each week Etsy Fort Worth features Friday Favorites - and this week - I happen to be one of them! Can you spot my creative genius in the picture? Yes, that'd be my "Crochets" hat - I promise you, I didn't spell it that way! All due gratitude for being included in this lovely collection....
If you're in the area (or even if you're not) I hope you check out my fellow Etsy sellers and see what awesome shops they have going -

It's Rodeo Time!

Can't tell who's excited, can you? He's doing the "cowboy" dance - yahoo! Western Day at preschool is a BIG deal! (Stock Show and Rodeo at the Will Rogers Center is a big deal when you live in Texas!)"Cowboy" beans, string cheese, applesauce, and little tiny hot doggies for lunch! Yah!
Ah, to be 3! It's the little things.Like his cute little behind in his Wranglers!
His sister, when she was 3, wore a sweet little dress that I made myself, labored over the night before, in the cutest vintage cowgirl fabric - it was adorable (would show you a picture, but it was stolen along with my computer about 1 1/2 years ago :(
Little boy didn't get subjected to any of his mom's sewing skills on this day - Lucky Boy.

Pillowcase Pants

I needed a birthday gift this past weekend for a little 2 year old girl - and wondered why the heck I was headed to Wally World to buy another plastic toy? So, dug around my fabric stash and found a cute little pillowcase - whipped up a pair of pajama pants for her. She should be able to wear these for a long time since it's got elastic and drawstring waist - and little girls can wear them as capris as they get older. Kind of liking the motif on just one leg - I'm thinking there's lots of room for creativity here.

Got the Chop

Well, I finally relented and let my daughter get her hair cut. Have to say, I think I really like it - I loved her long hair, but honestly, it was a pain to try to keep out of her face. She never let me really fix it the way I wanted - (imagine that!).
I've got a crabby little boy the last few days - what was originally thought to be pink eye, is now just a really nasty cold and double ear infection. Plus, we actually had school cancelled yesterday due to the weather! Crazy - living in Texas - school was cancelled. Nothing really bad though - just lots of ice on the overpasses. So....kiddies and me were holed up in the house again yesterday. We had periods of complete bliss at being able to stay home and "play" (...destroy the house....), and screaming and crying.
I am needing some time in my sewing room! Hopefully have some fun projects to share with you soon!

Happy New Year 2010!

This is a lot - but I came across it in my "junk" mail this morning and paused for a moment to read.
May you have a blessed, prosperous, happy, healthy New Year!
Twenty-Ten, Two thousand Ten, however you want to say it -
I like Twenty Ten personally....

11. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
12. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control.
Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
13. Don't over do ; keep your limits
14. Don't take yourself so seriously ; no one else does
15. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip
16. Dream more while you are awake
17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need..
18. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past.
That will ruin your present happiness.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
20. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present
21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you
22. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
23. Smile and laugh more
24. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
40. Last but not least, give someone a HUG daily.

Still trying to come out from under our holiday chaos. House is an utter mess, to say the least. I'm trailing behind my children picking up mess, after mess, trying to keep them occupied with new toys - while making new messes, to clean up the old messes. Mess, after Mess, after Mess.
Think I'll shower, put some lip gloss on and head out to do a little shopping with the mess makers, to get them out of the house, to quit making more messes!
Then maybe once my darling hubby gets home from shooting Bambi in the woods - I'll head to the movies to catch New Moon again before it leaves the big screen!
