Great Show - a little drippy, but a great show!

We ended up having a great show - a little, well, a LOT wet, but still we had a good turnout and lots of fun!

We had necklaces, earrings, matchboxes, artwork, pumpkins, aprons, crocheted hats,.....

pajama pants, coffee cozies, burp cloths, diaper wipes pouches,........

good things to eat, good friends, a sweet doggie who acted as our welcoming committee....

and a lot of fun!

Sweet Spring Skirts with a Vintage Touch

I'm thinking spring - and starting to think about what my children will be wearing for Easter. The goal is a dress made from a vintage sheet (of course) paired with new material from Joann's. Then little boy will wear Jon Jon's (or shorts - don't know yet) made from the same new material from Joann's. The problem is finding the time to get it all done - which is why I caved and bought them new outfits from Orient Expressed last year. I loved the outfits, just not the crazy price!

They are all made from vintage pillowcases - so one of a kind for sure! They will fit a wide range of sizes - the model in the pictures is a size 5 - but I think sizes 4-7 would be great.

EXTRA EXTRA...70's Sheet Turned Adorable Skirt

I took that borderline gaudy 70's sheet that I posted about earlier and turned it into the cutest wrap skirt. Added a vintage doilie to the front. Turned out great. I used my serger too - and boy was that a breeze! So far, I've got side seams down on that thing! Also used my Blind Hem foot for the hem. Super easy too. I used the intructions found in Sew What Skirts.

I'm planning to add several of these to my my Etsy shop in the future. I'm thinking a little bit shorter, but this pattern is so simple that it would fit many sizes. I may even end up making one for myself!

Vintage Pattern

Isn't this one of the most adorable little patterns??? I think my Mom gave it to me. For those of you that don't know - my parents have an antique shop - up North, Midwest Corn country! Anyway, I am so lucky that I get my hands on some really fun items. Yesterday afternoon, on a whim, while both kiddies were sleeping peacefully, I decided to get this one out and see if I could make heads or tails from the pattern instructions. It ended up being so easy - and I think, SO cute!
My girl loves, loves, loves to twirl and swirl in it. She's decided that she's going to wear it all day today, just to spin and whirl around the house.
It took quite a bit of fabric, it's a full circle - also - I love the waistband - you don't really see that on little girls' clothing now. You can't see it, but the hem as a facing, it's a seperate pattern piece that you attach to the hem and then turn it up. I've never see that in a modern pattern.
I'll probably start looking in my fabric stash and see if I can construct one of these to put on my etsy shop.
