Vintage PUmpKins straight to you........

Straight from the chaotic sewing room of Whoopsie Daisies, come the retro-hippy vintage-y funkilious pumpkins.  Can you Dig It Man?

Remember the ugly-dugly fabric I snagged in Indiana?  Perfect for fall pumpkins!  (It was dated 1974 by the way).  At least in my opinion that is.  I realize that this fabric is not for everyone.  Personally, I love it, but my house, though I'd love it to be, just isn't retro-cool.  Cookie cutter suburban house doesn't equal retro-chic.  I'll probably keep one or two in the hopes of finding someplace to display them though.
I went out yesterday after Coffee-Talk with some Fort Worth Etsy folks, and hit a local thrift store in hopes of find more previously loved threads to sew with, but no luck.  Sometimes you hit the jackpot, and most of the time....Well....you don't.  But the hunt continues.......

More Fabric Pumpkins - Vintage Style this Time

I am still making these pumpkins! 8 and counting....planning on making 5 more at least. Might also be fun to make them in different sizes. They are so cute and easy. Although - I've relented and gone the easy route on the stems. Instead of doing a hand blanket stitch around the stems, I've got to using the machine. Still cute I think! And I think I'll be keeping these vintage-y looking ones for myself. Now the kids each want one for their bedrooms - may have to do bright orange ones for that. My sons likes to use them as bowling balls around the house.

Fabric Pumpkins

I love fall - I love the cooler weather, the tastes of fall and of course the smells - I've got my pumpkin candle burning non-stop these days. My friend's birthday was on Wednesday and I decided to make her some of these pumpkins as a gift. I'm pretty excited with the way they turned out. I'm especially loving the animal print with the crushed velvet and shiny satin material. I'm wishing I had some cute vintage material in fall colors - because I think these could look really funky with vintage touches added to them.Of course I felt like I needed to head to the fabric store to buy yet more fabric to add to my already huge stash of it - but I just had to have the right shade of green wool felt for the stems. Then I couldn't pass up the brown baby corduroy and green crushed velvet. Oh, and then I had to have that touch of orange and rust.
