Snowing at the Homestead

Woke up this morning to "It's snowing! It's snowing! It's snowing!" We get real excited around here when it snows. My parents arrived yesterday afternoon from Indiana - they like to escape to Texas for the warmer weather, don't think they are getting much of an escape this visit! The kids are excited though - and frankly, I like the change in the weather too!
I've got some great vintagey stuff to share with you soon - Mom and I will be getting my Christmas decorations out today and tomorrow. Trying to get ready for my Trunk Show on Monday (do you live close by?? Would love to have you over - lots of great shopping! - Support Handmade, you know!). Contact me and I'll send you an invite :)
So, Mom and Dad brought me these awesome plastic candles and a cute snowman - they plug in - may have to replace the bulbs, we'll see.
My head is spinning today, too much going on, ....I need a personal assistant I think. Shopping, blogging, Etsy posting, baking, decorating, site seeing, the list goes on and on......
Oh! AND - my sewing machine quit working yesterday!!! I about died. Thank the Sewing Machine gods though - the repair guy actually called me last night at 5:30pm (after dropping it off at 9:30am) and said that it was DONE! He initially said that it would take a "few days", so I'm thinking....ok, I'm without a sewing machine for a good week - at Christmas time, not a good deal....so I started asking around and several sweet, sweet friends offered their machines for me to borrow - then Low and Behold! Sweet, sewing machine repair man called! Yeah!!!!!
Got to run make more coffee, and take care of the fam. See you!

Scenes from the Beach

Just some pictures from the beach. We had a great time - great weather too. Kids loved the sand, and indoor pool, of course. Beautiful sunsets...... Spending time with a much loved uncle and Grandma......A trip to Bellingrath Gardens to see the Christmas Lights - it's beautiful - you really need to go if you're in the area this season.

Had to include this picture - of my hubby and I - Have you ever been to the Flora Bama?? It's touted as the Last Great American Roadhouse - sits right on the Florida/Alabama line in Perdido Key. Yes,....those are bras hanging from the ceiling (none of which belong to me, I assure you)! Quite the experience I must tell you! We tucked the kiddies into bed, left them with their grandma, and walked next door to look for a little fun. Absolutely the best people watching place I've been to in a long time!
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving - I cannot believe it's Christmas time. Wish I could make time stop for a week or so, so that I could get all of my to-do list items crossed off - then sit back with a hot toddy and just enjoy. Ahh....getting ready for another Trunk Show on Monday...if you're in the area, I love to see you!

Coming Down from the High

I had an awesome girls weekend and am slowly coming down from the excitement - back to reality! Good reality, just different reality. You all know by now that I'm a huge Twilight fan, and unless you live in a dark cave on a different planet - you've heard about the New Moon release! Aw! I was able to see it twice- once on Friday and then again on Saturday. So much fun - and shared with a dear friend that totally "gets it" - which makes the experience that much more fun.We also took a little road trip east to Dallas in order to see Sam Bradley & the Men perform at The Loft. Sam contributed to the Twilight soundtrack and I was able to see him perform back in July. Such a heart felt performer - he loves his music, loves performing, and so do his fans. If you like, raw, unpretentious music, you'll love his.
I'm realizing that I look extremely short, and a bit like Pocahontis with my fringy boots....or maybe I'm reminding myself of a short, Scottish woman wearing a kilt (it's not a kilt trust me, thought the ruffly skirt was a thumbs up..o well, win some, you lose some).... in this picture.... o well.
Well, since this isn't really a blog about music; although it is my blog,
and I love this music but...- guess I'd better fill you in on what I've been up to with Whoopsie Daisies! Answer is....not a lot of sewing, but a fair amount of posting on Etsy. I've managed to get all of my Tooth Fairy Pillows listed and will be working to get more coffee cozies listed shortly. Are you ready for Black Friday? Get your keyboards warmed up and ready! I know lots of Etsy sellers will be offering free shipping on Friday - count me in too - all purchases on Friday will receive free standard shipping - Whoop! Contain the excitement people.
My family is getting ready to shove off to the beach for a few days over the Thanksgiving holiday, so I'm trying to squeeze in what Whoopsie stuff I can in between my other responsibilities.

The Christmas Garland

I'm finally recovering from the show last week. So much work to get ready and 4 days of fun (1 set-up, 3 show days). So much to think about in terms of - where are my children, and who is watching them?, did I grab enough $$ for change?, did I eat breakfast (I'm hypo-glycemic...get a little loopy if I don't eat!)?, where are my children?, why did I wear these shoes that are killing my feet after 15 minutes? Got to make more crocheted hats....did I bring the yarn?....and did I mention, where are my children? and who is watching them?! (By the way....I have some AWESOME friends, that have been an enormous help to me - I'm so thankful for you all!) Just a little stressful - but that's OK. I met some really fun people and had a fun time too.
So, during my down time at the show (yes, unfortunately, there was down time), I
started crafting in my head this Christmas Garland.
I took an old, stained, holey tablecloth and cut pieces from it, stitched them together, embroidered some cute words, added vintage buttons and trim, and ......Viola! I love it so much!
I would have posted it to Etsy, but, alas, ....it has been purchased and is going to a new home already! To be loved I am sure. I love how this old forgotten tablecloth has found new life and love - to be enjoyed by a new family this holiday season.
